Our Children Grow So QuicklyCapture and preserve the moment with printed photographic art FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How do I book with you?

That’s easy! All you need to do is call me or send me an email and let me know which dates work for you. My schedule tends to fill up quickly, so the sooner you get in touch with me, the more likely it is that we can schedule on your preferred date. Once you’ve selected a date, I require a session fee to lock in your date.

Why is it important to have a pre-session consultation?

As each portrait session is customized for your specific needs, it is important for me to understand your objectives. Our pre-session consultation allows us an opportunity to discuss who will be photographed and what you are hoping to capture. Whether it is a large canvas, a wall gallery, or an album, when I understand the type of photographic art to wish to invest in, I can tailor your session with your objective and your budget in mind.

How do payments work?

I prefer credit card or a check. I will accept a credit card payment over the phone, or you can pay via credit card, check, money order or cash at our pre-session consultation. The session fee needs to be paid in full prior to your actual photo session.

Do you offer payment plans?

I do! I understand that photographic art is an investment, and paying in one lump sum isn’t always ideal. We can work together to construct a payment plan that works perfectly for you.

How far in advance should I schedule my session?

This depends on the session type. For example, some of the best maternity portraits are taken between the 7 and 8-month timeline. Newborn photographs should be taken within the 1st 2 weeks of your child’s birth. Engagement session portraits should be taken with enough time to get your photographs back, so that save-the-date or invitations are sent out in a timely manner.

Other considerations:  Sessions in the studio can be done at any time of the day. For outdoor sessions, prime lighting happens early in the day or near sunset. Unless there is an abundance of shade, I typically try to avoid outdoors in the middle of the day. Other than these examples, when you book is up to you.

When do I get to see my images?

I work quickly to make your viewing session available as soon as possible. For headshots, the images are available for you to view during the session. Portrait session proofs are typically available within 2 weeks. For large events where lots of photographs are taken, the editing process could take up to 3 to 4 weeks.

How does the viewing session work?

We will meet in my studio for a viewing/ordering appointment approximately 2 weeks after your portrait session. You will get to see your images projected larger than life in a slideshow set to music. We will help you sort through the images and make final decisions on what will look best in your decor. If you had an opportunity to send us snapshots of the walls in your home, we will show you what your selected images will look like right on your own wall!

What should I wear to my session?

Ultimately, what you wear depends on what you’re most comfortable in. If you are unsure about what’s most flattering or what will go best with your location setting, don’t hesitate to reach out and connect with me. I have lots of ideas!

Will you come to my home?

Definitely! While many of my sessions take place on location, we can always take photographs at your house. This option is particularly popular with newborn photographs, pet photographs, and, sometimes, family sessions. Please note that a room that’s extremely well lit with natural light works best.

What happens if it rains or someone gets sick?

I understand that people get sick and that the weather misbehaves, so I always plan in advance. If you, or someone in your group, gets sick, we can reschedule for another date. The same is true for rainy days or non-ideal weather. If rescheduling due to weather isn’t preferred, I always have backup indoor location in which we can photograph your session.

What kinds of products do you offer?

I offer a variety of prints and products, including wall prints, gallery wraps, fabric and leather bound albums, invitations, cards, and more. We will discuss your specific needs at our pre-session consultation, so that our offerings can be tailored to address your needs and budget.

How many outfit and location changes can I have?

I never limit your outfit or location changes. All I ask is that you keep in mind the time it takes for you to change or for us to move to another location does count toward your session time. If you have a larger family or if you are planning for several changes, please let us know in advance, so that we schedule the appropriate amount of time for your session.

Do I need to bring anything else?

Feel free to bring anything you want to include in the portrait. A favorite stuffed animal or blanket usually helps a child feel more comfortable. If you don’t want it in the portrait, however, it’s probably best not to bring it. If our session is going to overlap a time when your child typically needs to eat, a snack would be helpful. Sometimes, a quick snack break is all they need to get back to a great session.

How much will this cost?

The total amount of investment depends on your specific needs, and the range of what people spend can vary from family to family. We offer “A La Carte” pricing for certain products, and we are happy to work with you to structure a collection to meet your needs and budget.

Do I have control over what images you share?

Absolutely! No matter what session I’m photographing, I will always make sure that you have a say in whether or not I post to social media or my blog.

I have a question for you that isn’t answered here. What should I do?

Please don’t hesitate to call me or send me an email message, and I will get back to you as quickly as possible.
